Welcome

   The People's Orchestra of Austin is a community folk orchestra. Our motto is "Music for the People by the People." We accept all instruments and players of all ages and abilities. There are no tryouts or auditions.We play a variety of musical styles and many original compositions as well as traditional pieces from around the world. We meet on Monday evenings at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin at 7pm ( Spring Season February 5-April 23rd, No class March 12th). Sectional/group lessons are offered monthly and the orchestra plays two concerts a year.( Our next concert is April 24th) Private lessons are also available. More on how to join here. We are part of Fractured Atlas , a 501c3 umbrella group that includes our orchestra as one of its sponsored projects.Fractured Atlas "empowers artists, arts organizations, and other cultural sector stakeholders by eliminating practical barriers to artistic expression, so as to foster a more agile and resilient cultural ecosystem." PO Rehearsal Dec 6th 7 pm 

Hi Everyone, 
I should be at church around 6:30 tomorrow. We will go at 7 and run the 8 songs in order. Please let me know if you need me to schedule to see you for some extra time over the weekend. I think we are gonna be ready and sound fantastic. Natalie will be contacting everyone about the show and getting snacks and drinks together for the party. I'm so proud of all of you! Practice. It's fun and it'll make the show more fun. 

Extra rehearsal Monday the 12th at 7 if you can make it. Be at the church in your shirts Tues Dec 13th by 6 pm if possible. Show starts at 7.

Tues. Nov 29th Rehearsal 

This week we will focus on Down to the River, You Are My Sunshine with vocalist Dana Lewis. We will also play Happy and O Come All Ye Faithful. Please check the Program to make sure you are listed correctly and to have a list of the order of tunes. Come early if you need extra help. We are almost there! Get your tickets now.

This weeks rehearsal is Monday Nov 14th 

Hi all, I have renovated Carol of the Bells, Kiss of Fire and O Come All Ye Faithful and added our new players into the mix. Please use the parts I sent you via email and the mp3's to practice. We will work on these three pieces tonight. I will be updating all our music and trying to not add any additional pieces till next session. Please pay your membership fees if you can and get your Orchestra t shirts at rehearsal. Tickets are on sale for the concert  and there will be refreshments. Meg and I will play a few songs to fill out the show. I hope you are having fun and enjoying playing. I am looking forward to rehearsal. If you care to come to my solo concert at Patsy's Cowgirl Cafe tomorrow night, there is no cover and I will be onstage from 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm. Patsy's is kid friendly, has a full menu and a full bar.

Hey all, Rehearsal this week is on Monday night.No Tues rehearsal this week. Come at 6 if you need extra help. Everyone at 7. Tickets are for sale for our first Coexistmas concert December 13th at 7 pm in Howson Hall at First UU Church of Austin.

Hopefully we will have a happy election day. This week we will concentrate on Louie Louie, Carol of the Bells, and El Choclo ( Kiss of Fire).

This week Nov 1 

Hey ya'll,
 I am so happy with how everyone is doing. Great job so far! The new piece for this week is O Come All Ye Faithful and i may get another up by Monday so check back on the member's page. Remember there is no rehearsal on Tues Nov 15th due to a gig at Patsy's Cowgirl Cafe on Ben White 6:30-8:30 pm Food and drinks, no cover. Come on out! That week we are rehearsing on Monday Nov 14th. Same bat time, same bat station. Tickets are already on sale for our  Co existmas concert December 13th 7 pm. Tickets are just $10 and children under 12 are free. Get your tickets here.

Don't know what to play? We can help. Come to a rehearsal. We can lend you something or help suggest places to rent or purchase the instrument of your dreams. We also take singers, rappers and beat boxers. Bring yourself! Joining is easy or just try out a session or two.
